How can we help with metabolic syndrome – Part 3

In the clinic we have a range of tools at our disposal to help manage metabolic syndrome. Lifestyle coaching and management for metabolic syndrome is given from 5 areas: Chiropractic, Massage, Nutrition, Personal Training and Mind-Gym. Take a look at our previous blog to discover the causes of metabolic syndrome.

Metabolic syndrome, caused by both controllable and uncontrollable lifestyle factors, can be reversed.

Chiropractic

Chiropractors perform spinal adjustments to influence not only movement, but also functioning of the nervous system. Improvements we often see can include: relief of pain, improved range of motion, improved muscle activation and strength, stress/anxiety reduction, enhanced sleep and improved energy.* These improvements allow the body to move more towards a state of healing, repair and balance – therefore playing a supporting role in the management of metabolic syndrome.

Massage

Another adjunctive therapy is from our Sports Massage therapists. Sports Massage plays a supportive role by; reducing stress and promoting relaxation, enhance circulation which can therefore support cardiovascular health, alleviate muscle tension to enhance range of motion and therefore promote physical activity. All in all, a lovely experience that helps you feel good and gives physiological improvements towards helping the management of metabolic syndrome.

Nutrition

This plays a crucial role. Key aspects include reducing calorie intake, particularly from added sugars and unhealthy fats, while increasing consumption of nutrient-dense foods. A diet rich in vegetables and fruit, lean proteins and healthy fats like those found in fish, nuts an olive oil are recommended. This, alongside portion control, mindful eating and regular meal timings can aid in weight management and blood sugar control. Working with one of our registered dieticians can provide you with personalised guidance and support to optimise nutritional management of metabolic syndrome.
